Laura Sharp, a legal medical cannabis patient and directing member of SocalPURE inc., will be in court Friday in Vista for a motion to return property confiscated in a raid on the legal medical cannabis establishment located in San Diego’s north county.

On October 9, 2013, law enforcement in riot gear forced their way into SocalPURE, a non profit mutual benefit corporation. The armed men threw people to the ground, screaming “where are the guns” and yelling obscenities in Laura’s face. The officers handcuffed everybody on-site and kept them that way for six hours.

This raid was a terrifying display of force on a legal business. No attempt was made to establish lawfulness, no effort was made to check documentation and financial records before the defendants were terrorized and treated as criminals. Further, the charges were dropped making this a politically driven message from San Diego District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis that your life will be turned upside down if you provide cannabis medicine to legal patients. Even though Dumanis is aware she can’t win in court she is doing an end-run around California state law and stealing the assets of vulnerable cannabis cooperatives.

During the raid thousands of dollars in electronics were taken by the armed gunmen, proceeds from the day and even the cash was stolen out of Laura’s wallet.  Charges were filed against Laura and two co-defendants then dropped unceremoniously by Deputy DA, Landy Spencer-Daly in April. Spencer-Daly also participated in the raid on SocalPURE inc.

Laura Sharp’s attorney Michael Cindrich has filed a motion asking the courts to order law enforcement to release Laura’s property. Please come to Vista Court, 325 South Melrose Dr. Vista, CA 92081 and stand with Laura.  Proceedings begin at 1:30PM, Friday, June 13, 2014.
